An alternate path for AI

Intelligence, rebuilt from the foundation.

Varda develops foundational technologies for compute, knowledge systems, AI governance, scientific discovery, and cryptographic protection.

Today's intelligent systems are increasingly powerful — but also more infrastructure-heavy, harder to govern, and more difficult to deploy with confidence. Varda has developed a different technological path: one designed for greater efficiency, control, and practical use across real-world systems.

Why Varda
Today's path is not the only path.

Modern AI increasingly depends on enormous computing infrastructure, opaque model behavior, and systems that are difficult to govern or adapt. Varda develops foundational technologies that approach those problems differently — from compute and knowledge retrieval to safety, scientific systems, and cryptographic protection.

Five technology families. Twelve distinct systems. One company building a different technological path.
One direction. Five technology families.

A portfolio built to move together.

Each family addresses a different part of the problem. Together, they form an alternate technology path for intelligent systems — from foundational compute and knowledge infrastructure to governance, applied systems, and cryptography.

VARDA RESEARCH AND COMPUTATIONAL FOUNDATION
Shared research, engineering methods, and proprietary technologies support the development of five connected — but distinct — technology families.
What it makes possible

From technology to practical use.

Scientific discovery

Prioritize promising experimental directions.

Knowledge systems

Deploy semantic retrieval without a GPU-heavy embedding stack.

Governed models

Apply inference-time controls within self-hosted model environments.

Decision systems

Coordinate agents and analytical processes.

Long-term protection

Develop cryptographic protection for quantum-era and AI-assisted threats.

Evidence

Claims should be inspectable.

Varda's public claims are tied to reproducible demonstrations, documented development status, or defined external evaluation. Where work remains in progress, we say so.

Demonstrations

Live or recorded systems ready to inspect.

Technical documentation

Public-safe methods and status briefs.

External evaluation

Independent testing and validation milestones as completed.

Review note: the two cards below are forward-looking placeholders. They are gated review-only and will not render in production until a measured, reproducible, cleared result exists to back them.

A public AI/AGI benchmark result reserved pending a recognized test, reproducibility, and claim approval.

Leadership

The people behind Varda.

Varda is led by operators and engineers who have fielded difficult technology in demanding environments — and who bring that same discipline to building the portfolio.

Janice Bryant

Chief Executive Officer

Three decades leading high-stakes technology transitions across the Navy sustainment enterprise — from Congressional program starts and SBIR/STTR lines at NAVSEA to fielding additive manufacturing, robotics, and the Navy Repair Technology Exercise (REPTX). Founder and CEO of Papanui Management, an AI and advanced-manufacturing venture. Engineer by training (BS Electrical/Computer Engineering, MPA in Leadership), futurist by nature. Sets Varda's direction, commercialization, and positioning.

James Peterson

Chief Technology Officer

James Peterson is a cybersecurity engineer and software architect with more than a decade of experience across cloud security, network defense, open-source governance, DevSecOps, fraud detection, software-supply-chain assurance, and critical public-sector systems. His background includes ML-integrated fraud detection at AWS, enterprise open-source security, SBOM governance, security auditing, incident response, and zero-trust policy consulting. At Varda, he leads technical architecture, validation, and maturity assessment across the portfolio.

Susan Simms

Chief Operating Officer

Turns complex technical platforms into systems enterprises can deploy, operate, and staff — the challenge she spent 28 years solving for the U.S. Navy. A Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, she pioneered additive manufacturing in the naval shipyards (the first 3D metal printers on the waterfront), served as lead technologist on the Shipyard Infrastructure Optimization Program, and stood up the Navy's inaugural REPTX with 60+ partner businesses. At Varda she owns operations, portfolio organization, and delivery.

Come see the foundation.

Whether you are evaluating one technology, exploring a strategic partnership, or examining the portfolio as a whole, the next step is a technical conversation grounded in what Varda can demonstrate.
